Minneapolis Ghost Walk

Minneapolis Ghost Walks

What To Expect

It was 2007 when Ygnacio Salinas was staying at what is now the Renaissance Hotel. He was alone in his room on a business trip and lying in bed working on his laptop, when he looked over and saw a tall man wearing a fedora and a long coat. He turned away in fear and looked back and the figure was gone. If that wasn't unnerving enough, he stood up for a drink a little later and he felt something push his left shoulder into the wall. He started getting freaked out but he told himself that it was all in his head and he went back to bed. Salinas fell asleep but when he awoke in the middle of the night, there he was again. The man in the fedora and the vintage clothing, looking at him from the foot of the bed...

Why Choose American Ghost Walks?

The Minneapolis Ghost Walk was developed by Mike Huberty, our company owner who was living in downtown Minneapolis and was already talking to local business owners about ghost stories in their establishments and decided to create a walking tour in 2015 that showcased the strangest historical stories in addition to their most fascinating of the paranormal experiences. Our original research is the foundation of this haunted history tour where we interview the real experiencers and explore historical records to give you Minneapolis ghost stories you will not get anywhere else.

  • Who is Richard Miller? An usher at the Guthrie Theatre who took his own life in the late 1960s and buried in his Guthrie uniform, patrons for decades afterwards would often mention that a mysterious usher was working in row 18. Is he still helping the audience at the new theater?

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you go inside any of the haunted buildings?

We focus on building exteriors and outdoor spaces. Businesses and public places are open for you to visit during regular business hours. Otherwise we respect the privacy of individuals and organizations and expect that our guests do the same.

  • Do guests really see ghosts on this tour?

We can never guarantee a supernatural encounter, but we will explain paranormal phenomena such as cold spots and residual hauntings. What we do guarantee: Our local connections and dedication to research means you'll get authentic accounts — in all their shocking detail.

  • Can I bring my pet?

Service animals are welcome. However, for liability issues, please leave your furry friends at home if you don’t require their assistance.

  • Is this ghost tour kid-appropriate?

While our tours do not contain anything too graphic or inappropriate, we find that kids that enjoy history have the best time. You know your children and that's left up to you. We do not recommend bringing children in strollers because sometimes that can be difficult with larger walking groups.

  • What if I'm late or cannot find my guide?

We do our best to answer calls and emails as promptly as they are received. Please make sure to leave a voicemail with the city and tourtime.  We try to accommodate travel and weather issues, but our public tours cannot wait for more than 10 minutes. Reschedules are available if the date you are interested in is not sold out.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Because this is a limited capacity tour, all sales are final. But we will reschedule you if you have an emergency, we love ghosts, not monsters!
